MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) The Milwaukee Brewers and their insurance company are being sued by a New Jersey woman who was hit in the head by a foul ball during batting practice on August 6, 2014. She was seriously injured.
Attorney Michael Sperling filed the lawsuit on behalf of Dana Morelli, saying the Brewers did not put up enough protection for his client and other fans. Morelli was hit just below the left eye by a ball hit by a San Francisco Giants player as she was taking her seat in the second row on the third base line. She suffered several broken bones, nerve and iris damage, and a concussion.
This season the Brewers have extended the netting that protects fans from foul balls from the area behind home plate to the dugouts on either side of the field. Major League Baseball asked for fan safety improvements in several ballparks including Miller Park at the start of this season.
The Brewers say they will not comment on pending litigation.
