TOWN OF MARION, WI (WTAQ) – A standoff in Waushara County on Sunday ended with the arrest of a man.
According to officials, the incident began with a 911 call reporting an attempted rape and kidnapping in the Redgranite area. Deputies determined that the suspect was inside a cabin on Highway N in the Town of Marion.
At the cabin, deputies met with the suspect and tried to arrest him. A struggled took place and officials tried to shoot the man with a stun gun, but failed. The suspect went back into the cabin, where the deputies had earlier seen guns lying around.
Deputies were called in from other counties, along with a SWAT team from Winnebago County. The SWAT team tried talking with the deputy for several hours. Authorities eventually went into the cabin, using pepper spray. The suspect finally gave up around 10 a.m.
He was first given medical attention for exposure to pepper spray and some minor cuts from the original struggle.
The man’s name has not been released.
