GRAND VIEW, WI (Wisconsin Radio Network) — Governor Scott Walker will be attending at an all-you-can eat spaghetti dinner, instead of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Green Bay Friday night. A schedule released by the governor’s office has him stopping by the Grand View “Firehouse 50” Spaghetti Dinner at the same time Trump’s rally is set to begin.
Grand View, located on the northern edge of Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, is about 250 miles from Green Bay.
The stop caps off a day that has Walker traveling across northwestern Wisconsin to tour recovery efforts, after the region was badly damaged last month by flooding. He will also visit a canoe rental shop in Trego and Copper Falls State Park in Mellen.
Walker’s office said he is visiting local businesses and other sites that were able to quickly reopen after the torrential rains. The governor earlier this week made a request for a federal disaster declaration for the region.
Walker did endorse Trump in the presidential race and spoke on his behalf at the Republican National Convention last month, although he has also expressed some frustration over how the billionaire is handling his campaign. The governor’s campaign said earlier this week that he does plan to attend future events the nominee holds in the state, as long as they don’t conflict with his work.
