KIEL, WI (WTAQ) – A woman has been arrested following an overnight standoff in Kiel.
Police were called to the 100 block of Raider Heights just after midnight after someone inside the house called 911 and reported a family dispute.
When the cops arrived, a woman ran into the basement, locked herself in a cellar and armed herself with a shotgun. The 45-year-old woman refused to come out.
Authorities called for more resources after pulling back from the basement and talked about a tactical plan. While this was happening, they say they were able to begin speaking with the woman. She eventually put down the gun and surrendered.
Police are recommending charges including child abuse, operating a firearm while intoxicated, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
The woman’s name was not released.
