HORTONVILLE, WI (WTAQ) – It’s been a somber day at Hortonville High School Monday as students and staff mourn the loss of one of their own in a crash Friday night.
According to the Outagamie County Coroner’s Office, 16-year-old Emily Nickel died from multiple blunt-force injuries suffered in a single vehicle rollover crash around 6 p.m. on School Road in Greenville.
School district officials say counselors and therapists were on hand for students and staff Monday.
Authorities say alcohol didn’t appear to be a factor in the crash, although officials say a toxicology report is still pending.
Also in the vehicle were three other 16-year-old girls who suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Authorities say all the teens were wearing seat belts.
On Saturday, the school was open for assistance and a holy hour was held at St. Mary’s in Greenville.
