The Milwaukee Brewers were 0-85 on the season in games in which they trailed heading to the ninth inning. Make it 1-85 after an improbable rally at Busch Stadium, slamming the Cardinals 8-4. The Crew trailed 3-1 heading to the ninth, getting only a Khris Davis solo home run. Trevor Rosenthal was up for his club record 48th save but he couldn’t retire any of the four batters he faced. The fourth, was Jason Rogers, who clubbed a pinch hit, go ahead grand slam home run. Davis would add a three run bomb to cap the rally. David Gofourth got the win in relief and Francisco Rodriguez picked up his 37th save. The Brewers gained a split against the Cards as their magic nmber to clinch the NL Central remained at 5 with a two and a half game lead over Pittsburgh. Milwaukee, (66-90) has a final off day Monday and finish up the season with three games in San Diego beginning Tuesday night, before returning home for the final three games against the Chicago Cubs at Miller Park on the weekend.
