The Milwaukee Brewers hope to play spoiler in September playing all but 6 games against teams in the rugged National League Centeral Division. They opened a three game set with the Wild Card leading Pittsburgh Pirates Tuesday night with a 7-4 victory at Miller Park. Jimmy Nelson was staked to an early lead and cruised to the win, working seven innings, allowing just a run on four hits while striking out six without a single walk to improve to 11-10 on the year. Adam Lind’s two run double highlighted a four run first inning against Gerritt Cole to give Nelson some breathing room. Jean Segura had a pair of hits and drove in three. The Pirates tried to club their way back into the game with a pair of home runs in the ninth inning, including one from ex-Brewer Aramis Ramirez. Francisco Rodriguez came on to record the final out for his 32nd save. The Brewers (56-75) will get their first look at Zach Davies in game two of the series as he makes his major league debut. He was acquired in the Gerrardo Parra trade from Baltimore. Pre-game coverage begins at 6:35 PM on WTAQ.
