FREMONT, Wis. (WSAU) — A Menasha woman is hospitalized after an unusual series of events Saturday evening near Fremont. Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department investigators say the 49-year-old driver had been southbound on County Highway H when she struck a deer. Her vehicle was disabled in the lane of traffic. A 55-year-old passenger got out of the vehicle to look at the damage when another southbound vehicle struck the rear of the disabled car and the 55-year-old.
The injured person was take by helicopter to Theda Clark Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. Deputies did not release the name, gender, or hometown of the 55-year-old victim.
The second vehicle was driven by a 66-year-old man from Neenah. Officers didn’t say if he was injured.
Investigators don’t believe alcohol was a factor in this crash.
