EAU CLAIRE, Wis (WSAU-Wheeler News) When U-W Eau Claire graduates return for homecoming this weekend, they will not see the usual king and queen. The campus festivals committee has eliminated those titles, and is calling both positions “royalty” instead. WQOW T-V says a number of students suggested the change with a goal of making the homecoming royalty gender-neutral.
It’s possible that the old male-and-female leadership model could produce two men or two women instead.
Eleven candidates are in the running. The two with the most votes will be announced tomorrow. They’ll reign over Eau Claire’s homecoming activities, which include a parade on Saturday morning.
