(WNFL) – Kyle Hendricks stopped Milwaukee on one hit in the first six innings as the Chicago Cubs won Saturday’s game 1-0. Paired with a Pittsburgh loss to Cincinnati, the Cubs still have a slim chance to host the Wild Card game against the Pirates. The Cubs have won seven games in a row. Milwaukee didn’t have a base runner until Martin Maldonado singled with one out in the sixth inning. Hendricks (8-7) picked up his eighth win and Hector Rondon earned his 30th save. Cubs rookie shortstop Addison Russell drove in the game’s only run in the second. Rookie starter Tyler Wagner (0-2) was effective for the Brewers, allowing just that one run on seven hits in six innings. Dan Haren (10-9, 3.67) pitches for Chicago today, while the Brewers’ Jorge Lopez (1-0, 5.40) makes the second start of his major league career. Game time is 2:10 p-m.
