(WNFL) – Joel Stave committed four turnovers and the Iowa Hawkeyes used a sterling defensive effort to defeat the Wisconsin Badgers (3-2, 0-1) 10-6 at Madison in the Big Ten opener for both teams.
Among Stave’s turnovers was a fumble on Iowa’s one-yard line midway through the fourth quarter.
Stave completed 21-of-38 passes for 234 yards passing but Wisconsin’s vaunted running game managed just 86 yards on 34 carries.
Iowa (5-0, 1-0) was able to rush for 144 yards with Jordan Canzeri doing the bulk of the work, running for 125 yards.
