GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A Brown County Board committee is scheduled to discuss a proposal to rename Austin Straubel International Airport on Monday.
The airport is named for Green Bay native Austin Straubel, who was a World War II lieutenant colonel and airman who died after a bombing mission 73 years ago.
Supporters of the name change believe putting the name “Green Bay” will capitalize on the city’s name recognition, and help promote the city.
The meeting of the Planning, Development and Transportation Committee takes place at 6:15 p.m. Monday at the UW-Extension office, room 161, at 1150 Bellevue Street.
