MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) – It’s not exactly a honeymoon, but Paul Ryan did get a little bump-up in the polls after being elected House Speaker.
A new Marquette Law School poll shows that 49 percent of 803 registered voters give the Janesville Republican a favorable rating. That’s 3 percent more than October of 2014, the last time the question was asked.
A slightly smaller percentage of voters see Ryan unfavorably — 34 percent now, compared to 35 percent 13 months ago.
Ryan has vowed to give his family the same amount of time back home, despite his additional duties as speaker. However, the new poll indicates that folks in Ryan’s House district may not get the same amount of attention.
23 percent in the Marquette poll say Ryan’s speakership will help him represent his southeast Wisconsin district. But 63 percent say it will take his attention to issues outside his home base.
