BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis (WSAU-Wheeler News) A western Wisconsin man is due in court November 16th, after being charged with embezzling almost $180,000 from an electric co-op where he was the finance manager.
47-year old Jeffrie Cook of rural Black River Falls is charged with five felony counts of theft from a business setting. Cook resigned in February from the Jackson Electric Cooperative. Prosecutors say co-op officials discovered the missing funds three months after he left. Cook reportedly told investigators he took the money because he had personal financial problems.
Officials say he manipulated bank deposits to take co-op funds from 2010 last year.
