MADISON, WI (WTAQ) – The Madison Oscar Mayer plant will close in early 2017.
The information came Wednesday from UFCW Local 538 President Doug Leikness.
The move will put 1,200 employees out of work.
Six other plants will also close, including two plants in California, and one each in Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, and Canada.
Kraft Heinz, which owns Oscar Meyer, also announced that in 2016 they will move the Oscar Meyer and U.S. Meats Business Unit from Madison to Chicago.
