WEST ALLIS, WI (WTAQ) – Officials with the Wisconsin State Fair say the poultry show is still on, for now, but they are keeping a close eye on the bird flu situation.
Avian influenza has killed 1.7 million chickens and turkeys in this state. And, the State Fair becomes a big mixing bowl of diseases animals bring with them.
There is reason to worry it would facility a wider spread of the bird flu which has killed tens of millions of birds in Minnesota and Iowa.
The Minnesota State Fair – one of the largest in the country – has already canceled its poultry exhibits.
