TREMPEALEAU, WI (WTAQ) – A chain of home care centers based in Minnesota will hire at least 500 employees of a Wisconsin non-profit chain that’s about to shut down this month.
But it won’t all be Minnesota’s gain — because the International Quality Homecare Corporation plans to expand into the Badger State.
The International firm says it will hire hundreds of people from GeminiCares to help clients who are elderly, disabled, and have chronic health conditions. It plans to shut down May 31st at locations in Slinger, West Bend, Reedsburg, La Crosse, Stevens Point, Marinette, Whitehall, Eau Claire, Adams, Neillsville, and Hayward.
International says it will maintain home care and other services with Wisconsin Gemini clients.
International president Aderonke Mordi said the company has an office in Trempealeau, and it has wanted a location in Eau Claire. As of Tuesday, the La Crosse Tribune said around 200 Gemini employees had applied for jobs with International Quality Homecare.
Aderonke and Michael Mordi are both pastors who moved to the U.S. from Nigeria over two decades ago. They said their faith motivated them, and they launched International in 2000. It runs seven branches in Minnesota from a base in Rochester.
