CUDAHY, Wis (WSAU-Wheeler News) Patrick Cudahy is about to build a $12-million expansion of its suburban Milwaukee bacon manufacturing plant. It will replace a portion of the plant that was destroyed in a massive fire almost six years ago.
Patrick Cudahy’s owner, Smithfield Foods, says the new addition will cover 17-thousand square feet. It will have four slicing lines that will increase Patrick Cudahy’s bacon production capacity by about 10-million pounds.
Smithfield says the addition is expected to be fully operational by December. A ground-breaking ceremony is set for Thursday morning in Cudahy.
