UNDATED (WSAU-Wheeler News) Wisconsin could see new business opportunities in the emerging field of energy storage. A report commissioned for the Mid-West Energy Research Consortrium says the global market could improve by 400-percent over the next five years for storage products that can protect businesses from rising utility costs.
John Bobrowich of the Milwaukee-based Mid-West consortium tells the Journal Sentinel that the market will get “very, very big” — and three-fourths of new sales will take place in growing foreign markets like India, China, and the Asia-Pacific region. The market for things like improved battery technology has around six-billion dollars in annual sales today. An analysis performed for the regional energy consortium shows the market could grow more than four-fold to $26-billion for products that include hydro-electric power storage for utilities.
