FITCHBURG, WI (WTAQ) – Police in Puerto Rico arrested a 33-year-old man Friday, for allegedly taking part in a drive-by shooting that wounded a Madison area woman during an Ironman Triathlon.
Abdiel Moreau Dones was apprehended at a public housing complex in San Juan.
Officials said people in two vehicles were shooting at each other on March 15th, when an errant bullet struck 26-year-old Liz Boivin of Fitchburg in the left calf. Miguel Ramos was struck three times in the left side.
Both were racing on bicycles as part of the Ironman, which also includes a swimming race and a full 26-plus mile marathon run. A passenger was killed in one of the two cars involved in the shootings.
Authorities said the suspect was also alleged to have killed a Puerto Rican official and two of his daughters in 2004.
