(WNFL)- Melvin Gordon is no longer a Badger but he still shows up at the Wisconsin spring football practices to give his successor a piece of his mind. Gordon is trying to make Corey Clement a better player. Clement will be a junior this fall, and will get the bulk of the carries in a Wisconsin offense that values the running game and a solid offensive line. Last season, Clement ran for 949 yards and nine touchdowns with 147 carries. That almost sounds like a starter’s line but it came while Gordon rushed for 2,587 yards and 29 touchdowns on his way to being the runner up for the Heisman Trophy. Clement feels like he’s starting all over again and not just because he’s getting top-billing for the first time at the UW. He’s also trying to learn new terminology from the new coaches running backs’ coach John Settle and head coach Paul Chryst. As for Gordon, he won’t be around much longer to offer advice to Clement. He gave up his senior year at Madison to join the NFL Draft starting on April 30th.
