MADISON, WI (WTAQ) – Just a week after purchasing Sager Creek Vegetable Company plants in Pulaski and Oconto Falls, Del Monte Foods says they are closing them down.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, about 41 salaried and hourly workers and nearly 200 seasonal employees will be out of work.
Between the two facilities, the company processes and stores corn, green beans and peas.
Del Monte told FOX 11 in a statement: “This decision was difficult, but will ultimately allow Del Monte to maintain a strong grower and manufacturing presence in Wisconsin.”
The layoffs begin in Pulaski in May and Oconto Falls in June. The two plants are slated to close fully in mid-June.
Del Monte Foods also operates a plant in Markesan.
