MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) – Former Milwaukee County Walker aide Kelly Rindfleisch has yet to serve her six month jail sentence for illegal campaigning during her tax funded job.
But Assistant District Attorney Bruce Landgraf has filed a request to order Rindfleisch to serve her time.
As part of her plea deal with prosecutors, she was allowed to wait until her appeals were exhausted before going to jail.
The State Supreme Court upheld Rindfleisch’s conviction earlier this week. She failed to convince appellate judges that a search warrant in which investigators seized her e-mails — both work and personal — was too unconstitutionally broad. Therefore, she said the e-mails from 2009 and 2010 should never have been used against her.
Rindfleisch was among a half-dozen aides and associates of Governor Scott Walker who were convicted of crimes ranging from illegal campaigning to embezzlement. It was the result of a John Doe investigation in which the Republican Walker himself was never charged.
