RHINELANDER, WI (WTAQ) – Folks in Wisconsin’s Northwoods are showing support for three young girls who lost their parents in a double murder last weekend.
Dozens of people attended a candlelight vigil in Rhinelander Thursday night to grieve for the family of Thomas and Jennifer Ayres. They were found dead last Sunday at their home near Three Lakes.
Jennifer’s 17-year-old daughter Ashlee Martinson is jailed in Indiana, pending extradition back to Wisconsin to face two homicide charge. She also faces 3 false imprisonment charges for allegedly locking her sisters in a room before she and her boyfriend fled.
The three younger daughters — ages 2, 8, and 9 — are now in the care of the Oneida County Social Services department. Sheriff’s captain Terri Hook said the girls could not take many possessions from their home, as it’s being preserved as a crime scene.
The local Tri-County Council on Domestic Violence is accepting gifts of money, toys, books, backpacks, crayons, and coloring books. The agency is not accepting gifts of clothing and other personal items.
