MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ) – Folks in eastern Wisconsin continue to remember Amy Krueger, the National Guard staff sergeant from Kiel who was among those killed at Fort Hood in 2009.
A crowd gathered Sunday in Manitowoc to remember the staff sergeant who was among 13 soldiers — and two Wisconsinites — murdered by a gunman. The Wisconsin unit was training for a medical-related mission in Afghanistan at the time.
The third annual “Kruegsfest” took place at T.J.’s Sports Bar and Grill. FOX 11 said it’s where Krueger played lots of volleyball — and her family still performs a variety of music.
Numerous musical acts performed Sunday and Sunday evening.
The event raised money for a number of Wisconsin veterans’ causes. That includes Milwaukee’s Fisher House, which provides housing for military families close to loved ones who are hospitalized for injuries, diseases, and other illnesses.
