MADISON, WI (WTAQ) – The British prime minister denies telling Governor Scott Walker that he’s critical of President Obama’s leadership.
Walker reportedly told Republican donors at Mitt Romney’s summit in Utah last week that David Cameron privately expressed concerns about the direction of America’s leadership. That was back in February, when Walker visited 10 Downing Street during his trade mission to the United Kingdom.
However, a British spokesperson told Time Magazine that Cameron “did not say that, and does not think that.” Time quoted Walker as telling the GOP donors he’s heard criticisms of Obama from other world leaders.
As the governor put it, “They’re looking around, realizing this ‘lead from behind’ mentality just doesn’t work.”
Walker’s trip to the UK was overshadowed by his refusal to publicly answer questions about evolution and world affairs.
This week, Walker is nearing the end of a six-day trade mission to Canada, in which he’s selling Wisconsin as a solid option for Canadian businesses that are ready to grow.
Tuesday, he met with officials from the Agropur Cooperative, which is upgrading its plant at Weyauwega in Waupaca County. Walker also met with executives from the Domtar paper company, which employs about 900 people in Nekoosa and Rothschild.
