BALDWIN, Wis (WSAU-Wheeler News) A mistake by a dump truck driver closed Interstate-94 in far western Wisconsin overnight. The State Patrol said Susan Blank was driving a truck owned by Monarch Paving near Baldwin in Saint Croix County when it slammed into an overpass at County Trunk Double-“B.”
Officials said Blank failed to completely lower the box of the truck before it damaged the underside of the bridge on B-B.
Debris was scattered into the eastbound lanes of the freeway. I-94 was closed for several hours while crews removed the dump truck box — which was wedged under the overpass. The bridge is closed until it’s deemed safe by the D-O-T. A bridge inspector was looking at the structure at last word. The State Patrol said the body of the truck separated from its box and rolled into the median, but its driver escaped injury.
