WASHINGTON D.C. (WTAQ) – Janesville House Republican Paul Ryan has never been a fan of Obamacare — and Wednesday, he told the nation’s health secretary the system is broken, and it must be replaced.
Ryan chairs the House Ways and Means Committee, which questioned Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell about the Affordable Care Act.
In his prepared remarks, Ryan noted that many health insurers want double digit premium increases next year — and he says it’s proof that the law is not working. Democrats take issue.
Ryan also criticized the Obama White House after reports that many people who received federal subsidies for their care had to give back parts of those payments to the IRS.
In her prepared remarks, Burwell praised the Obama health law for making what she called “historic progress” in reducing the numbers of uninsured people.
