RACINE COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – A female inmate who escaped from a state prison in Racine County has been captured, along with a driver who helped her leave.
Sheriff’s deputies said the woman left the minimum security Ellsworth Correctional Center near Union Grove around 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Officers stopped the vehicle in the town of Yorkville, and the inmate tried running away. She was apprehended after a short chase on foot.
Deputies said the driver also took off, but deputies arrested the person a short time later.
Both suspects are in the Racine County Jail, awaiting multiple charges.
