WAUKESHA, Wis (WSAU-Wheeler News) Gypsy Blancharde is due back in court today. She’s the Springfield Missouri woman accused of having her Wisconsin boyfriend kill her mother last month. A judge will consider pre-trial requests for the 23-year-old Blancharde. That’s after she pleaded innocent to murder and armed criminal action in the stabbing death of her 48-year-old mother Dee Dee at their Springfield area home.
Prosecutors said the younger Blancharde convinced her boyfriend — 26-year-old Nicholas Godejohn of Big Bend in Waukesha County — to commit the slaying. Godejohn has also pleaded innocent to murder.
Authorities say the Blanchardes had claimed that Gypsy’s disabled, surviving Hurricane Katrina in order to collect sympathy cash.
