MANKATO, MN (WTAQ) – A northwest Wisconsin maker of beef jerky has agreed to pay $50,000 in sexual harassment damages to a former employee of a plant in Minnesota.
The Gopher State’s human rights’ agency said the woman’s boss made repeated sexual advances during the 4 months she was employed at Jack Link’s in Mankato as a line worker in 2012.
Officials said she reported the harassment after two months. The male employee was suspended for 2 days but was later promoted as the woman’s direct supervisor. She quit after 2 more months.
Human Rights Commissioner Kevin Lindsey said Jack Link’s took the right step in its initial discipline — but it undermined its efforts by “not subsequently monitoring” the supervisor’s actions.
Jack Link’s, which is based at Minong in northwest Wisconsin, must also provide sexual harassment response training to all supervisors and managers at its Minnesota operations.
