MADISON, WI (WTAQ) – Wisconsin’s housing market continues to rebound, with sales of existing homes at their highest since 2006 on a year-to-year basis.
The state Realtors Association says its members sold almost 9,300 houses last month. That’s 17.6 percent more than the year before — the best sales volume for a June since 2004.
Home sellers are especially smiling wider. The median home sales price last month was $169,000, $10,000 more than a year earlier.
Marquette economics professor David Clark says more people have jobs — and talk of rising interest rates is getting more buyers into the market now.
For the first half of the year, Realtors’ home sales are up 12.3 percent statewide — and the median sales price is almost 7 percent more.
