RIVER FALLS, WI (WTAQ) – Flash flood warnings were extended until the 11 a.m. hour in five western Wisconsin counties where over seven inches of rain have fallen since midnight.
Officials said the heaviest rains have diminished.
National Weather Service radar showed light to moderate shower activity in generally the northern half of Wisconsin at last word.
Just over 1,000 electric customers in northern and central areas lost their power as of 10:30 a.m.
Most were in and around River Falls, where almost 7.33 inches of rain fell with flash floods.
To the east, U.S. Highway 12 near Knapp was closed at mid-morning — when 3 to 5 inches of rain had fallen in St. Croix, Chippewa, and Polk counties.
Other parts of western and northwest Wisconsin had flash flood watches until 1 p.m. Other sections of the state expected lesser rain storms into tonight.
