MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) – Summer college students are the latest to say they’re being put in jeopardy by the current Milwaukee County transit strike.
This is Day 2 of what’s expected to be a three day walkout by 750 union bus drivers and mechanics. In a letter, the student governments at Marquette and UW-Milwaukee said those who ride the bus to school could really be hurt by the strike.
That’s because summer classes are short as it is — and they risk getting “F’s” by staying away for multiple days.
The groups noted that some students are having their final classes interrupted before they expected to get their degrees — and as they put it, “Failure could result in another semester of school.”
The union expects drivers to return to work Saturday.
