MILWAUKEE (WSAU-Wheeler News) The Wisconsin Air National Guard will try to figure out why a battery charger failed, causing a military plane to make an emergency landing in Milwaukee.
Officials of the 128th Air Refueling Wing said a K-C-135 Strato-Tanker was in the middle of a training mission last night, when crew members noticed fumes and smoke from the cockpit. The plane then landed safely at Milwaukee’s Mitchell International Airport. No one was hurt in the emergency landing, which occurred around nine last night.
The unit said the smoke-and-fumes came from a failed battery charger — but it was not known why.
