The Green Bay Phoenix held off Valparaiso 51-50 before a season high crowd of 4916 at the Resch Center Friday night. Greg Mays hit a runner off the backboard with 1:41 to play for the game’s final points. The Phoenix missed a couple of bonus free throws but the defense came through with a couple of big stops late to secure the win. Keifer Sykes and Alfonzo McKinnie each scored 11 for Green Bay which improved to 18-4 on the season and 6-1 in Horizon League play, sharing the top spot with Cleveland State. The Phoenix will visit the Vikings in Cleveland on Saturday night.
