RHINELANDER, WI (WTAQ) – A second person is under arrest in the 2003 killing of a man in Rhinelander.
40-year-old Shannon Wolf was booked Thursday night on possible charges of first-degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse in the death of Kenneth Wells.
Wolf’s ex-wife LaToya recently came forward and told Rhinelander Police what she knew. LaToya, who’s now 33, was subsequently charged last month with being a party to Wells’ homicide and obstructing officers.
Authorities originally assumed that Wells drowned, after he was found dead in the Wisconsin River in June of ’03.
However, the complaint against Wolf said Wells got into an argument at a bar with another man over Wells’ failure to pay for marijuana. She reportedly saw 3 men drag him to a bridge, where they started hitting him with a rock and eventually pushed him into the river after he stopped resisting.
Shannon Wolf was said to be one of those men. He was accused of stabbing LaToya in Rhinelander in 2012.
The cold murder case was re-opened in that year, and again last year. Police said their investigation is still open.
LaToya Wolf is due back in Oneida County Circuit Court March 3rd for a preliminary hearing.
