GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – For the first time, the Green Bay Packers will make some of their fans go through metal detectors Saturday night.
The National Football League will join Major League Baseball in requiring walk-through metal detectors at all gates next year.
The Packers will smooth out the bugs by having fans in the 600 and 700-level South End Zone seats go through the detectors this season, starting with Saturday night’s home exhibition opener against Philadelphia.
Fans at the Shopko Gate will have to remove cell phones, tablets, and other large objects and put them in a tray next to the detectors, in clear sight of inspectors. Fans will not have to remove their belts or empty out their change.
Milwaukee Brewers’ fans know the drill. They’ve been going through metal detectors to get into Miller Park since April.
