ONANA, IA (WTAQ) – Governor Scott Walker steps up his criticism of President Obama, for inviting China’s president to an official state visit next month.
The Republican Walker took his White House campaign back to Iowa Wednesday, where he said his position would not affect the billions of dollars in trade between China, Iowa, and his home state of Wisconsin.
Critics say the states’ massive trade makes Walker a hypocrite on the subject.
He first said on Monday that Obama should cancel the Chinese leader’s state visit, after a slump in China’s economy helped spur a massive drop in U.S. stock markets.
Wednesday, Walker said “If anything, we should be taking them to the woodshed.”
At Onana, Iowa, the governor said Americans are more concerned about fighting cyber attacks from China, than working with that country to fight global warming.
Walker has promised to visit all 99 Iowa counties before the state’s caucuses on February 1st. After Thursday, Walker will be about a-quarter of the way toward that goal.
