Milwaukee, WI (WTAQ) – Wisconsin gas prices are 18-cents cheaper than a week ago, as a B-P refinery in Whiting, Indiana returns to full production.
State motorists were jolted earlier this month when a crude distillation unit failed at Whiting.
Prices for regular unleaded jumped by more than 30-cents in just two days, and were as high as 2.95-a-gallon a week ago.
This morning, the Triple-“A” reports a statewide average of 2.77 — still 22-cents higher than the national average.
Nick Jarmusz of the Wisconsin Triple-“A” expects prices to fall closer to the norm, as the refinery increases fuel supplies to markets throughout the Midwest.
Before the breakdown, Wisconsin gas prices were falling in the midst of record-low crude oil costs.
