NEENAH, WI (WTAQ) – Authorities say they’re working to identify human remains believed to be a Neenah man who’s been missing for the past year.
Oconto County Sheriffs were notified Sunday that a pickup truck belonging to 22-year-old Kyle Blohm was found by a group of bear hunters in the Town of Bagley, about 3 miles north of Suring.
A deputy said a search found skeletal remains nearby. Oconto County officials are working to positively identify the skeletal remains.
Blohm was last seen on August 8, 2014, and was the subject of a significant search effort by family members and law enforcement. He disappeared mysteriously, and apparently took several personal items with him.
“When I got the call yesterday, I was down from the news and certainly saddened by it,” Neenah Police Chief Kevin Wilkinson tells WTAQ. “I think I was perhaps naively optimistic, I really kind of believed that he had just gone to a new location to start a new life and he was doing well somewhere.”
In a statement prepared by Kyle’s father, Mike Bogan:
It is with heavy hearts that we must bring you the sad news that Kyle Blohm was found on Sunday August 9th. Kyle was an outstanding son, father, brother, nephew, cousin and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. We ask that you please give the family some privacy to grieve at this time. Thank you to all that have supported us throughout this difficult time. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
