The Milwaukee Brewers were unceremoniously swept out of PNC Park Sunday, falling to the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-2. It’s the fifth straight loss for the Brewers who have slumped to a 2-10 start, the worst in franchise history. Starter Matt Garza was touched for two runs in the first inning but Milwaukee tied it up in the second on RBI singles from Jean Segura and Johnathan Lucroy. That would be it for the Milwaukee offense as Pedro Alvarez homered in the third and Chris Stewart delivered a two run single in the 6th to knock Garza out of the game. He fell to 1-2, giving up seven hits and five runs. Gerritt Cole picked up the win, allowing five hits and two runs with six strikeouts over six innings. The Brewers managed only six hits for the game and failed to score more than 3 runs in any game in the weekend series. Milwaukee is already six and a half games behind division leading St. Louis which completed a sweep of Cincinnati Sunday night. The Reds are next for the Brewers as they open up a weeklong homestand with a four game series against Cincinnati. Willy Peralta will be on the mound for the Brewers Monday night. Pre-game coverage begins at 5:40 PM on WTAQ.
