The Milwaukee Brewers first road game of the year produced a 5-4 win over the Cardinals, spoiling the St. Louis home opener before a record crowd of 47,845 at Busch Stadium. Matt Garza got the win over St. Louis ace Adam Wainwright. Garza constantly worked out of trouble but gave up only two runs in 5 and a third innings, allowing six hits and walking five, one off his career high. The Brewers took advantage of shaky defense by scoring single runs in each of the first two innings of Wainwright. St. Louis was able to tie the score but Aramis Ramirez drove in a run with a groundout in the sixth and Carlos Gomez brought home another with a double to left. Johnny Peralta’s two run double pulled St. Louis to within a run but Johnathan Broxton worked a perfect 8th inning and Francisco Rodriguez pitched the ninth for his first save. Milwaukee (2-5) has a day off before resuming the series in St. Louis Wednesday night.
