NEW LONDON, WI (WTAQ) - New London police say they have arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with two fires early Tuesday.
Police say they have referred charges of attempted first-degree intentional homicide, arson and damage to property to the district attorney.
Authorities say there are no other suspects at this point.
The first call came in around 3 a.m. for a fire at the Copper Shot Bar in the 300 block of N. Water Street. Two people were hurt jumping out of a second-floor window escaping the blaze. Six people in all were displaced.
Then about an hour later, fire crews were called to New London High School for a fire damaging some playground equipment. That playground equipment is mainly used for an early childhood program. The outside door of the school’s library was also damaged.
Classes did go on as normal. No damage estimates are available yet.
