You talk about pressure. Sophomore Jordanna Midthun was on the line with a trip to the state championship on the line. After missing the first with the game tied at 42, the DeForest teenager calmly waited through a time out and knocked down the second with 2.5 seconds to play, giving the Norskies a pulsating 43-42 victory over the La Crosse Central Red Raiders in the Division 2 semifinal at the Resch Center. Deforest has reached the title game for the first time in school history. The Norskies opened a 13 point lead only to see LaCrosse Central storm back and the 4th quarter was a frantic nailbiter with neither team able to put the other away. Kayla Goth finally got DeForest back even at 42 with a pair of free throws with 1:31 to go. Central missed a shot with just over a minute to play and Midthun got to the line going up for a shot after Goth made the pass. The sophomore never blinked and the Norskies advance to face Notre Dame in the D2 final Saturday night. Goth led DeForest with 20 points and she had 7 blocks, a couple coming in the nerve wracking fourth quarter. LaCrosse finishes the season at 21-6 while DeForest improves to 26-1.
