The Wisconsin Badgers drew a number 2 seed and will play their first and second round games an hour from home at the BMO Harris Bradley Center this week. The NCAA Mens Basketball Tournament pairings were announced Sunday evening. The Badgers finished second in the Big Ten regular season and got bounced in the semifinals by Michigan State at the Big Ten tournament in Indianapolis. Wisconsin will American University in it's first round game on Thursday.
As for the Milwauke Panthers, the Horizon League Tournament Champions, their first trip to the dance in 8 years has them as a number 15 seed, heading to Buffalo, New York to meet second seeded Villanova, the regular season Big East champions. That game will also be played on Thursday.
The Green Bay Phoenix, generated some conversation from analysts Clark Kellogg and Doug Gottlieb on the CBS Selection show, but their exit in the semifinals of the conference tournament on their home floor and three discounted victories against non-Division 1 teams during the regular season hurt them despite scoring a victory over one of the four overall number one seeds in Virginia.
