Duffy challenges Democrats to vote for "Doc fix" bill Friday

by

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WSAU) -- There is a vote scheduled today in the U.S. House of Representatives that would fix and pay for the Medicare doctor reimbursement rates. That’s according to Congressman Sean Duffy.

Duffy says the “Doc fix” legislation is H.R. 4015, and is scheduled for a vote Friday. He says it would head off an upcoming cut in doctor pay for services that should have been addressed four years ago when they were debating the Affordable Care Act.  “The reimbursement formula for our doctors who provide these services is one that has become so low, that many doctors in America aren’t providing services and care to our seniors.”

Duffy says the upcoming cut in doctor pay is significant, and will force doctors to limit or eliminate services for Medicare patients.  “There is on the horizon, a 24% cut coming to Medicare reimbursements for our doctors that provide care for our seniors. If that cut goes into effect, it’s going to have a devastating impact on the care that our seniors can receive.”

The 7th District Republican criticized Democrats for not only failing to fix doctor reimbursement rates, but for raiding the Medicare fund.  “Instead of shoring up a plan that helps our seniors, instead of doing that, what my friends across the isle did in Obamacare is they looked for a pay-for, and they saw a pot of money in Medicare, and they took almost a trillion dollars out of Medicare to use for Obamacare.”
