The top ranked Notre Dame Academy Tritons hockey team steamrolled into the WIAA state tournament semifinals Thursday afternoon with a 7-0 victory over the defending champions from Eau Claire Memorial. Notre Dame outshot the Old Abes 31-14, scoring twice in the first period, three times in the second and two more in the third. Sam McCormick and Collin Appleton each tallied a pair of goals and Aaron Campbell needed only 14 saves to record the shutout in goal. Notre Dame (27-1) advances to the semifinals for the fifth straight year and for the third year in a row, will meet Verona. They moved on with a 3-0 victory over Superior. University School of Milwaukee defeated Wausau West 2-1 in overtime and Onalaska knocked out Kettle Moraine 4-3. The Tritons are seeking their 2nd state championship in the past three years.
