And this was supposed to be a rebuilding year. The Green Bay Phoenix women defeated Oakland 67-52 Thursday night at the Kress Events Center to clinch at least a share of a 16th consecutive Horizon League championship. That run of 16 is the longest in the nation. Green Bay shot 54% from the floor and hit seven of 12 three point shots in the victory. Senior Breannah Ranger and freshman Tesha Buck each scored 19 points for the Phoenix. Green Bay improves to 19-8 on the season and 12-3 in the Horizon League. They can wrap up the outright title Saturday with a senior day regular season finale against Detroit. The victory also locked up the Horizon League's women's conference tournament at the Kress Center next week. The Phoenix will be top seeded and receive a bye into the quarterfinal round of the tournament which will begin on Wednesday night.
