GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Four suspects accused of mistreating dairy cows at a Brown County farm are free on signature bonds.

On Tuesday, 31-year-old Abelardo Jaimes and 26-year-old Crescencio Pineda, both of Menasha, and 33-year-old Misael Monge-Minero of Green Bay made their initial appearances in court. An attorney represented 39-year-old Lucia Martinez of Wrightstown.

All four are facing charges of intentional mistreatment of animals that came to light from a secretly recorded video taken by an animal rights group last year. The hidden camera video shows workers at Wiese Brothers Farm in Greenleaf dragging, poking and lifting the cows above the ground.

Since the video surfaced, Wiese farms was dropped from supplying its milk to a Baraboo-based cooperative at the request of Nestle.

Both Jaimes and Monge-Minero entered not guilty pleas and had their trial dates set. Martinez and Pineda have hearings scheduled for later this month.
